Unlike other Rosés in the early 80's, the Rose of Virginia attracted immediate attention and helped lift the status of the Rosé.By the early '90's, the Rose of Virginia had absolutely triumphed and we have sold out too quickly every year since. By the way Charlie triumphed too, he married his girlfriend, Virginia, in 1989. The wine is a true light red style showing lifted, perfumed Grenache characters of cherry and berry, and a lovely rich but crisp and elegant palate. It is incredibly consistent from year to year and is best enjoyed in its youth. It is incredibly refreshing and versatile in its food matches. This process extracts lots of fresh berry flavours and just a touch of colour, an attractive vibrant pink. The palate is fine and lively, with soft berry characters, and loads of flavour balanced by soft acid and just a touch of astringency from the skin contact. Drink it chilled, especially with seafood.
